Dear North Haledon Families,
My name is Ms. Soluri, and I would like to introduce myself to you as the K-4 school counselor at Memorial Elementary School. My passion for school counseling began during my time as a student attending Montclair State University where I received my B.A. degree in Sociology and then earned my M.A. degree in counseling with a concentration in school counseling. What I love most about the elementary level is the genuine curiosity students have in their learning and the world around them, as well as the opportunity for early intervention support that can have a positive impact on a child’s life.
As a school counselor, my primary responsibility is to promote the academic, social emotional, and personal development of all students. I look forward to offering support to the North Haledon students, staff, families, and community. I meet with students individually and in small groups, conduct classroom lessons, meet with parents, and collaborate with teachers and staff to meet the needs of every student.
Sometimes when the term “counselor” is heard, some may perceive that a counselor may only work with a select few students in a 1:1 counseling capacity, but that is not the case. School counseling programs reach and meet the needs of all students in a school through various ways, including those listed above. If you ever have any questions or concerns or do not wish to have your child participate in these school counseling services, please do not hesitate to call or email me at any time. I can be reached via email at [email protected].
I am so excited to work with your children and get to know you throughout the school year!
Warmly,
Ms. Soluri

My School Counseling Philosophy
As a school counselor, I will encourage students' social, emotional, and personal growth at each stage of their development, focusing on the student as a whole individual. My priority is to work with students, parents, and teachers collaboratively to ensure all students reach their maximum potential while always keeping their best interests in mind. It is my responsibility to provide students with a safe, positive, and accommodating environment where every child feels they belong. I will advocate for every student’s unique needs as well as motivate students to embrace the skills and values they learn and incorporate them into their daily lives.
