Middle School Transition
Get organized- make sure your backpack is ready the night before. Keep track of your assignments in a planner to help with remembering important due dates.
Transitioning to the middle school typically comes with various feelings such as excitement, anxiety, anticipation, and maybe a little bit of fear. These feelings are all normal, and it is important to remember that you are not alone. Change is always scary, but try to embrace the process and enjoy it. Remember that you have a team of people to support you.
- Doing homework: since you will have more homework, make sure you use your time wisely and plan ahead. Do not wait until last minute to start your assignments.
- Talk with your teachers: don't be afraid to ask questions! Be your own advocate.
- Get involved in extra-curricular activities. This is a great way to make new friends and do something you enjoy.
- Stay healthy: Get a good night's sleep and eat a healthy breakfast.
- Talk to your parents: Keep them informed.
- Find an adult that you trust to talk to when you have problems such as a teacher, school counselor, or other staff member. The staff is here to support you and help you adjust!
- Plan a visit to the building before the school year begins so that you are comfortable with the layout of the building and you get to know where everything is.
